I hope that this whole thing with Charlie Kirk is making some people realize that the Authoritarian tactics, doxxing, cancel culture, and silencing of dissident voices by the far right are in no way championing "free speech". They never have, and they never will. Fascism has never supported Free Speech, no matter how much they've tried to connect "patriotism" and "nationalism" as free speech causes, by amplifying their own voices and silencing others. Just like they claim to offer "safety and security" by targeting marginalized groups with violence and hate, convincing you that THEY are the threats to YOUR safety and security, when in fact they are just ordinary citizens like you, and the hatred will eventually reach you too.Speak for the people without voices. Stand up for the people without support. That is the only way to make this country safe and free for all. If you side with the authoritarians, thinking that they will get your back because you are one of them, you will be sadly disappointed. The only ones looking out for you, and not themselves, are the ones looking out for everyone. The others are always using rage baiting and wedge politics to target any group that can't fight back (ie, any marginalized and underrepresented group), to make them the scapegoat to lay all the blame (and hate) on. When they offer NO SOLUTIONS to problems, only a scapegoat for it. In fact, by scapegoating the problem they are only contributing to it (like inducing traffic in the name of reducing traffic congestion, or putting whole groups of people at risk of violence by profiling them). Thanks to big money "political parties" being introduced into Edmonton, our politics right now are full of it. Look carefully at the platforms, and you'll see the underlying division and hate. Making the downtown core "safe from crime" by targeting vulnerable and marginalized groups, when you're much more likely to be maimed or killed with impunity by an angry white man in a pickup truck than an unhoused Indigenous person who hasn't had an opportunity to bathe. Claiming to support traffic by inducing more automobile traffic on the road by taking away the safety, security, and viability of active transportation and mass transit from those who can't, won't, or prefer not to drive, creating more of the very traffic that is congesting the roads. Blaming immigrants (only the ones of darker shades) for literally EVERYTHING that the government has underfunded from housing to healthcare, and even traffic options! Accusing queer folk of threatening the sanctity of society, and painting them all as "perverts".So when you look at your candidates this October 20th, look for which ones are speaking out for those without voices, not the ones who are amplifying the loudest, most divisive voices. The former are the ones who will bring people together, protect our interests, and protect our INCLUSIVE SOCIETY.#racism #Hate #HateSpeech #abpoli #yeg #yyc #yegbike #biketooter #urbanism #inclusion
