Astronomers have discovered a super massive black hole (SMBH) at the center of the well-known Cosmic Horseshoe Einstein Ring system.

Using gravitational lensing effects and stellar kinematics (how an SMBH affects the motion of stars around it) and data on asymmetrically placed lensed images of another distant galaxy, the mass of the SMBH is estimated at 36 billion solar masses, close to a new record. The galaxy itself is estimated at 5.2 trillion solar masses.

NYT article on an aborted classified mission to N Korea, greenlit by trump in 2019.

The SEAL team mission was aborted when a boat appeared on the scene. Crew members (civilians diving for shellfish) were shot dead; lungs were punctured with knives to ensure their bodies would sink.

Congress was not notified before or after the mission.

The blue half of the image contains the star cluster named Pismis 24, which resides in the core of the Lobster Nebula (aka NGC 6357), ~5,500 light-years away, within our Milky Way galaxy.

At the heart of the glittering cluster is binary star Pismis 24-1, 74 and 66 solar masses resp.

The jagged "mountains," made of gas and dust, are sculpted by fierce radiation from the young hot stars.
