8 September 1886 | A Dutch Jew, Meijer Smeer, was born in Amsterdam. A musician, conductor.

He arrived at #Auschwitz on 27 January 1944 in a transport of 948 Jews deported from #Westerbork. He was among 689 of them murdered in a gas chamber.
