@jfmezei Yeah we didn't book prestige. That's double what we could afford from Van to Toronto. We'll fly to YVR to catch the train through the Rockies and fly back from either NS or NFLD.

But we might just rent a car in Halifax so we can have the flexibility - trip is in its very early days of planning and I'm going to leave that part up to her what she wants to do.

So my dear partner has always talked about taking the train across Canada.

Her birthday is this month and I just booked Vancouver > Toronto > Montreal > Halifax on VIA Rail in June.

It'll be the farthest east I've been in Canada, and she's going to be thrilled to visit the east coast again. I can't wait to share this journey with her!

When I managed a large team, one of the things I sent out when I joined the team was a survey asking "how do you want to be recognized?"

You need to meet people where they are.

For me, I don't care to be recognized. I want to see real, tangible evidence of positive change in our community as a result of my effort to elect this person to advocate on my behalf.

I want to see houseless housed and find belonging, I want transit to be accessible, I want EPS to be present when there's a rash of petty crime.

Maybe I'm not always seeing that, but I know the alternative is absolutely not a safe human who I actively feel threatened by.

Like I don't want to discourage people to contribute to progressive campaigns, but candidates really need to realize and recognize how much their volunteers and donors are doing to prop them up.

We desperately need these progressive voices, but they have to find ways to pay it back or recognize the efforts of the circle that got them the office, and often.

I think I'm at the point where I'm realizing elected and candidates take advantage of their volunteers, donors, and staff for their betterment and I'm feeling really gross about it.

Holy fuck I'm so tired to politicians just phoning it home.

If this party is truly a party of socialists, they should be here. There's really no argument.

Also, it's a choice that the Alberta NDP has chosen to post to BlueSky and other corporate media instead of the Fediverse.

This choice has excluded Albertans who have liberated themselves from corporate media for free democratized social media.

The Alberta NDP really needs to get their poop in a group.

There's no way to email critics or your MLA from the albertandp.ca website. You have to go to the Legislature website to find it.

They're likely missing a ton of correspondence.

It begs the question - is this by design? This member feels like it's by design.

It feels like the party would rather you listen to Nenshi tell the same story for the eighteenth time than actually listen to its members.

Maybe that's just me.
