Hmm, #NixOS impermanance is SO good...it blew my OpenVMS VM I was working on *doh*....always remember to put /var/lib/libvirt into your persistence files. -

I don't get the hype around #NixOS@lianna look, if the appstore install/remove button is all you ever needed to configure a computer, it doesn't mean the others have to live a similarly soulcrushingly boring computing life. but yours is probably happy, unlike ours, so, cheers to you -
I don't get the hype around #NixOS@lianna why would anyone need anything but install/remove button in an appstore? it is what configuring systems is, tying things together into what you need with all the flexibility you can get. how does your favourite 20th century package manager lets you configure your preferred shape of glyph 'a' in iotevka font? oh, it doesn't? then nobody must ever need this kind of stuff, obviously.
sure, you can keep fighting a strawman and pretend nixos is about rollbacks or some other superficial consequences of it being designed right. you might even win. what's the point though? -
I don't get the hype around #NixOS@lianna there's simply no other system (*) that lets me request, say, rsyslog built against a patched gnutls, without affecting the "system" one. Let alone reuse that new rsyslog in a systemd service, a script, a development shell definition and whateverelse all alike. Compared to that, 20th century distros are "configurable" only in the same sense as a slab of iron is "configurable" into a car.
(*) guix doesn't count, for it's a plastic likeness -
