Yeah, Xcel Energy said they need the rate hike to "prepare for the expected surge in demand for electricity" . By which they mean datacenters.

As somebody who was involved in construction of a 4 MW Minnesota datacenter, I can say: *make the !@#$ datacenters pay for it*. Trust me, they can afford it.

The rate hike should *only* be passed to large commercial customers.
