I’m turning 40 in a few weeks. I’m very excited.

When I was a young queer child I often wondered: how am I going to have a life if I am ‘wrong’? I set myself an arbitrary deadline of ‘by 40, I should have figured it out’. I knew that I would need more time than my cishet peers.

I feel very okay with where I am right now and I think that child would have been proud of me.

In a time when immigrants are being attacked all over the world, if your politics are still ‘legal immigrants are fine’ or ‘I hate the H1B program but not the workers’, you should read the room.

You either believe that all people belong where you are, or you don’t.

I’m looking for a Thinkpad W520 or any Thinkpad with at least 500GB hard drive, and most importantly it needs.. FireWire, specifically the Texas Instruments chipset (so no T510, etc)

A year ago around this time, I was between jobs and I did a fun thing. I shared my cal and said anyone here who wanted to talk to me for 30 min could do it. As long as they didn’t want to sell me anything.

I met some really interesting people, some of whom I continue to speak to today! I will pick this up again in some form.

I used to be embarrassed that I was a generalist who knew many things about many things instead of all the things about one thing. But you know what? In today’s world, I enjoy that. I will have been many things at different times. I don’t need to tightly couple my sense of self with work that I do. In a few years I’ll be like remember the time I did that cool thing and saw literal tons of whales?? Cool. Maybe by that time I’ll be making artisanal sambal, or I’ll have become a musician. I like that at any one time, I feel like I have a range of skills and fun things to do, that I can adapt as things change. Sometimes the world changes. Sometimes I do.
