Although some of it *is* very good, it really does seem like the staples come from the depression era. It isn't *abhorrent*, but it is very often pretty boring, with a handful of admittedly wonderful exceptions.

Scotch eggs are good enough that putting one in the hands of any American will get them to stop complaining about brit food for a moment, and it's kinda shameful that the US doesn't sell them in gas stations because they're obviously just great.
Brits *always* go "uh yeah yorkshire pudding and bangers and mash, those are the iconic brit foods." It's like, come the fuck on, you have more culture than that, just fucking show it off already. -
