@jerryI'm wondering about links that make it to the trending tab (news), but where I get zero results from searching for the link.

I'm wondering about links that make it to the trending tab (news), but where I get zero results from searching for the link. Is it just because people's accounts aren't searchable (unchecked "Include public posts in search results" in settings > profile > privacy and reach), but everyone's (edit: more people's; see next) posts are included in the trending algorithm?

also, is "Feature profile and posts in discovery algorithms" the toggle that determines if your posts get included in the trending features?

seems like that should be part of the stemming algorithm

@joriki search is not awesome by design. I believe urls route the search to a specific set of code that tries to connect to it as an activitypub node and when that doesn’t work, it just bombs out.
