WASHINGTON—Today, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) invited the Chief Executive Officers of Discord, Steam, Twitch, and Reddit to testify at a full committee hearing on October 8, 2025. The hearing will examine the radicalization of online forum users, including instances of open incitement to commit politically motivated acts.

“The politically motivated assassination of Charlie Kirk claimed the life of a husband, father, and American patriot. In the wake of this tragedy, and amid other acts of politically motivated violence, Congress has a duty to oversee the online platforms that radicals have used to advance political violence. To prevent future radicalization and violence, the CEOs of Discord, Steam, Twitch, and Reddit must appear before the Oversight Committee and explain what actions they will take to ensure their platforms are not exploited for nefarious purposes,” said Chairman Comer.

The only one I care about is steam. And the others I know will bend the knee because their policies have already been heading that way, thats why I’m not on them anymore

These are the thoughts of the man they are championing. He was not a good man. He was not even an average man. He was a wedge between you and your fellow Americans. We should all strive to live a life that actually brings us together as humans instead of ripping each other apart.

The list having an overlaid illustration of him getting murdered invalidates your entire post. That’s not intended to bring anybody together.

I don’t care whether someone agreed with his opinions, in large part I didn’t, but reveling in the assassination of a person over peaceful conversation is despicable.

Yeah, this is not a normal thing to do and clearly another way to try and make anyone who isn’t MAGA, look like a criminal.

I’m sure they will find the majority of the hate speech is from right wing extremists, but then they will not post the research, or they will do their best to hide it from public view.

The administration has zero intention of being honest and helping society, so i really hope none of these CEO’s do anything to coddle the crybabies in office. Let them cry themselves to sleep.

He didn’t actually say that, he was referring to Bible verse to prove another person’s selective quoting of the Bible.
I didn’t want to get into a discussion on specifics, so I deliberately didn’t touch on the points in the image - and I won’t do so any further.

If you are celebrating murder you are a disgusting person. I have nothing further to say on this matter.

Sure, but that’s not the dunk you think it is.

Another person being Ms. Rachel, who has continuously been targeted by the conservative media ecosystem for her extremist views like children in Gaza shouldn’t be killed.

Her “selective quoting” being Jesus’s statement that the most important commandment is to love your neighbor. Which he then goes on to refute a completely different verse.

Bringing nuance to the conversation is appreciated, but like a lot of Kirk’s shitty statements that have been popping up in the past week, the full context somehow makes it worse.

By the way, he did actually say that Jewish money was ruining our culture and loved throwing around the “cultural Marxism” white supremacist conspiracy theory.

By the way, he did say that Black women didn’t have the brain processing power to be taken seriously, and that they took the slot from a more qualified white person.

Those are the kinds of statements that embolden hate groups to take action, whether that’s knowingly enacting policy detrimental to targeted populations, or threats of violence or actual violence against the. What’s being celebrated is that he no longer has the means to spread his shitty messaging.

His conversations were not peaceful. They were propaganda pieces meant to sway right leaning individuals to note extremism. What does extremism beget? Violence. This is a reap what you sow moment. Learn from it.

In other words, explain what you’ll be doing to add censorship to your platforms.

They really could not have picked a worse demographic to try that on. Not only do online gamers despise censorship and policing, their vocal minority is known for being extremely toxic and unrelenting. The icing on the cake is that a good number of them are right-wing, too.

Have fun dealing with the shitstorm you’re about to create!

The only one of those I really expect to show censorship resistance is Steam. And of that, I’m very curious if they’re going to see repercussions from it.
