#helix #robotics #AI #dishes@ErikJonker Great, a robotic surveillance device in my home slowly making me more dependent on Big Tech by doing basic tasks I should be able to do for myself if I wish to remain sharp into old age. What's next, a mini forklift for me to take to the gym to raise the weights for me? A machine to read and interpret all the books so I don't have to? Oh wait, we already have the latter with "AI".
Nah, I'd sooner throw all my tech into a river. We already have amazing brains and bodies of our own.

@ApostateEnglishman ...robots have many uses, we should not combine it with distaste for big tech, in industry, manufacturing, medicine/healthcare there are many very useful applications that add a lot of value.

@ErikJonker I appreciate the response and mean no disrespect to you when I say the benefits mainly accrue upwards, not downwards to ordinary folks with meagre funds. Musk's "self-driving" cars already function as unregulated surveillance for a reckless billionaire who has way too much power, and is a clear and present danger to democracy. A robot in my home with advanced sensory capacity? In my living room? Bedroom?
I'd dismantle it into individual component parts myself. Not wanted or needed.
