    One of my favorite authors is about to write her first fairy-tale retelling, joining the many, many authors who do that.

    Why?

    Why in the world would you take an old story and rewrite it?

    It doesn't even appeal to me as a reader. I know these things must sell, because authors keep doing it, but honestly?

    I'd rather read new, original stories.

      @Firlefanz One legitimate use for it that I can see is storytelling and writing practice. It's probably more motivating than comparing adverbs or whatever the cool kids do all day these days. 🙂 But from there to publishing…
