What the fuck is going on with Ruby?

@janl What a mess.. and what does that mean for mastodon which is written in ruby.

@tony @janl Should we rewrite it in another language at some point? Doesn't seem impossible. Just... annoying.

@pierstoval @janl It works, but presumably if rubygems dies they can't ever update anything..

Of course there's a huge community that doesn't want that to happen, so something will appear to replace it.
