One thing I find utterly scary is somehow tech caused people to fear personal websites. I'm not at all joking! I think the #Fediverse forgets what kind of bubble they are in sometimes because there really is a different world out there. Instead of improving tech literacy, we taught people to fear links and personal websites and to hate bloggers.

Like as just one example. An author published a great thing on their blog. They also syndicate to Substack. Whenever I'd try and direct people to the blog version on their website, everybody in my non Fediverse circle asked if I had an FB link or a Twitter link or a Substack link. I sent them the Substack link and everyone opened it without a second's hesitation.

And when I say tech literacy, I am never talking about code. I am talking about things like *why* RSS feeds work. I'm talking about why personal websites are good ways of expression, actually.

For those Fediverse peeps, people hated blogs the way you all hate influencers.

I remember everyone just absolutely trashing bloggers when I was younger.
