    We added our Vivaldi Social server to the Fediverse on November 15th 2022. We are still, I believe, the only browser company that is fully behind the Fediverse. It is something we are very proud of! The Fediverse is the natural alternative to Big Tech social media, just like, IMHO, Vivaldi is the natural alternative to Big Tech browsers.

        @mastodonmigration @Remittancegirl @jon I like Vivaldi. I downloaded it about 3 months ago, loved it and even donated 100€.

        But then I stumbled on this: https://privacytests.org

        I’ve since settled on Mullvad.

        Sure, it’s missing a load of features like bookmark sync and password mgmt, plus all the extra Vivaldi goodies, but you can’t argue with privacy.

          @jon And this is yet another reason why I use Vivaldi exclusively. Thank you.

              @t3rcermillenium @mastodonmigration @Remittancegirl @jon I prefer to keep things like bookmarks and passwords agnostic of any browser or platform. Prevents lock-in. I like raindrop.io for passwords and bit warden for passwords suits my risk profile 🙂

                @wiredfire @mastodonmigration @Remittancegirl @jon 100% agree.

                Been using keepassx for years (and still do on my iPhone), and have 90% of my passwords there. Just years of using FF means some invariably leaked into the browser pwd mgmt.

                Platform lock-in is real. Keepassx allows me to run Linux on my laptop, Windows on the family PC and iOS.

                I could probably look at a more modern approach like BitWarden

                  @jon You aren't doing shit to stand up to Big Tech. You're building a bloated, proprietary Chromium reskin.

                    I used keepassx for many years. It's a fantastic system. Eventually hit a couple of file sync headaches (not even slightly the fault of keepass) so migrated to Bitwarden for the balance of security vs convenience.

                      @jon a bit off topic, but there's apparently some weird interaction between blog federation, quote toots and some Mastodon version: the blog post QTed in your post appears as “removed by its author” even though I can actually load it in my instance and it shows up properly quoted on your instance (see attached screenshot).

                      cc @pfefferle since my understanding is that the Vivaldi blog is WordPress
