My eternal beef with SSO

My eternal beef with SSO.
Click on link to page on app that's behind SSO.
Oh turns out your session expired, kick you back to SSO login
(Because the "Keep Me Logged In" button is a lie)
Authenticate in SSO
Oh look, the app is now back at the home screen not the link you wanted to go to.
Click back
Oh that page is the SSO redirects you back to the app
Okay, click to go back more pages
Guess wrong on which page you were on
Something refreshes on that page, fucking up your forward button
Now you have to either dig through history or you have to just refind the link you wanted to go to in the first place.
Or you just get distracted and give up until sometime after your session has expired again.

@JessTheUnstill I frequently suffer from this and a variant of it:
- I'm logged in and viewing an important page
- I task-switch to another issue or the work day ends
- The site times out & redirects me to the main page
- I come back to that tab. What was I doing?
(this issue is amplified by pages with uninformative titles, so my history view is unhelpful)

@adamhotep Even worse when I try to open in a new tab so I don't lose my place, and it's one of those stupid JavaScript links that doesn't actually open a new tab.

@JessTheUnstill oh yeah, those are bad too (I've even written userscripts to replace some of them with real links).
I wouldn't call them "worse" since I know it didn't work right away, while the timeout-redirect actually makes me forget important tasks whose presences were supposed to remind me when I got back.
