    Can't wait, if all goes well i go wfrom a 5800X to a 5700X3D!
I know some of the less technically inclined among us might say that looks worse but its the X3D cache that makes the massive difference in gaming and compiling.

I will happily trade that 200mghz in for that sweet 3d L3 Cache!

Its a temporary solution, i got a sick AM5 Build with the latest and greatest X3D chip in the planning but that requires new ram and a new board too so this is a short term solution to cross the 7 months required to save the money for the definitive upgrade

@tofu@is-a.cat the M5 is further down the line that will be a more expensive upgrade because I need more hardware this is a simple upgrade from 5800x to 5700x3D.
It's cheaper and gives me the cache for the simulation games I play a lot, this should give me a 50 percent performance increase in those games, bridging the time I need saving money for the big upgrade down the line

@xaetacore I thought you had something specific in mind to aim for already, but I guess the prices are changing. I bought into AM5 early, so memory compatibility and mobo prices were much higher back then.

@xaetacore You can probably get a cheaper motherboard. PCIe 5 is a meme as of now, SSDs have been notorious for having overheating problems and being slower, and by the time PCIe 5 will matter for GPUs, this socket will be dead.

@xaetacore I'm not talking about going for an used mobo, just not going for the highest end set of chipsets duct taped together, because the IO you get out is basically useless, and the platform will be obsolete by the time it matters.

@xaetacore I'm also the type of person to pay extra for a case to not have glass on it, and keep it under the desk.

@tofu@is-a.cat I don't mind a case with glass as long as it's dark tempered glass so that the two RGB lights in my RAM sticks don't light up my entire room

@tofu@is-a.cat fairpoint, I will still go for this build or something similar because I really like it, despite its planned obsolescence which is seemingly becoming part of every product these days
