I posted on my blog a while ago that one step in owning one's Internet presence is getting a domain name; and in doing so, one should avoid cutesy TLDs.
Having i.am[@]cute[.]af as one's email address might seem cute as fuck, but putting one's Internet presence at the mercy of the Afghanistan authorities (and one's own country's relationship to them) may or may not be a particularly good idea. Same with many other vanity TLDs.
(Yes, I know my Fedi domain doesn't quite quality.)
