So this totally normal. WaPo reports that the EPA now says companies shouldn’t have to report planet-warming emissions
"The announcement amounts to a major rollback that would eliminate the primary means of tracking climate goals. The EPA framed it as a cost-cutting measure."
"The EPA said in a statement that ending the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program would save American businesses up to $2.4 billion in regulatory costs. Under the EPA’s narrower interpretation of Clean Air Act requirements, some oil and natural gas facilities would still need to report their emissions starting in 2034."
"Environmental advocates say that data on what businesses are emitting is essential to tracking progress toward climate targets and effectively instituting regulations to tackle global warming."

Why should we stop at having to report emissions? I mean, c'mon, we all know that billions could be saved if corporations didn't have to deal all kinds of annoying paperwork, like figuring out how much of the toxic sludge they're dumping into streams and waterways. This is tremendously short-sighted by this administration, but I expect that given enough time they will see the error of their ways.

@briankrebs Oh, why do paperwork at all? I mean, its just such a pain to track all those cybersecurity incidents. Just resolve it internally, and no one really needs to know. Afterall, all their data is out there anyhow. Oh, and while we're at it, its a real pain in the ass to have to study, determine, collate, report, and publish data on all the deaths that companies cause. Just let 'em die. It would save so much more money. To hell with the masses, as long as there's enough of them to turn the cogs of business, let it happen. Laisez faire at its finest.
