Some of you probably know the computer magazine "Dr. Dobb's Journal". At the @internetarchive you'll find – among lots of later issues – the very first volume from 1976 with all 12 issues in an anthology. Have fun: https://archive.org/details/dr_dobbs_journal_vol_01 #vintagecomputing #retrocomputing #drdobbs

@stiefkind @internetarchive Dr. Dobb's (and early issues of BYTE) are treasure chests for retrocomputing fans... I used to read lots of the back issues in the uni library as a student in the 90s!

@me_ @stiefkind @internetarchive Wow, I thought it was only me that did that! My uni library also had older issues of (US) PC Magazine from the 80s and they were a treasure trove of small x86 assembly language utilities.

@mjturner @stiefkind @internetarchive We also had (and still have, but it's no longer interesting) the "c't" (computer technology) magazine in Germany which used to publish its own hardware and software projects, e.g. their own 8086, 68k, and Transputer systems as well as many embedded projects. So the US magazines were a really interesting addition and gave a different perspective for us in Germany.

@me_ @stiefkind @internetarchive I remember c't (even growing up in South Africa we'd heard of it) - it was one of those magazines that published some legendary articles but I don't think they were often translated into English.

@mjturner @stiefkind @internetarchive Archive.org has scans of most of the good old ones (1980s to early 1990s), but these are still in German, of course...
