      @davidaugust Nazis provoked violence knowing that the forces of state repression would work for them and that the conformist masses would rally behind the State. Once the Nazis got power, they used the monopoly of terror to repress even more. Only massive violence toppled the Nazis and their millions of supporters.

        @markvonwahlde yes, in that place at that time, it ended up nothing short of total war removed the German n*zi's from power in 1945.

        That was not necessarily the only option earlier, but once they'd gone on world invasion tour, it was.

        In the nuclear age, violence has a catastrophic negative cliff built in, and as you aptly highlight: now, in the US, violence will further fuel the autocratic break through.
