Can somebody explain the #LinkedIn follow feature?

I can intellectually if not emotionally understand connecting with people you know so you can share trivialities glazed up as inspiring business tales and maybe check a reference/share a job listing with people you know.

But following "#influencers," the kind of person likely to pay for LinkedIn ads to shit up your feed, so they can shit up your feed for free seems dumb. If I wanted self-help-tier stupidity sexed up as a heartwarming adventure about CVs, I'd just ask #ChatGPT.

Anybody please prove this is not a screen shot from LinkedIn!
