I've tried a lot of this without success. I was able to export bookmarks and important to new handle. ‍️ Thank you, maybe I'll set up a backup account at GoToSocial!

Thank you for your help. To move to a different account, I have tried:
- put @ in front of new handle
- not putting @ in front of new handle
- using password of new account
- using password of old account
- resetting password of old account
- waiting 24 hrs
- turning off 2FA on both accounts

Moving to different account seems to move followers. Importing who I follow is more important and that worked. I've updated old profile with new handle.

That is the message I was getting. It says the handle of the account "is not an alias of this account" and the old account password box also turns red. I'll see if it's better in 24 hours.

@leonardof Unfortunately, the previous admin hasn't transferred ownership so the new host is winding down.

I followed https://fedi.tips/transferring-your-mastodon-account-to-another-server/ and https://apobangpo.website/how-to-join/move-to-apobangpo-space/, but have not been able to "Move to a different account" through my old account.

Since that seems to transfer followers, I'm fine with not being able to do that. I was able to export who I'm following and my lists and that was most important to me.

I tried that, but still got the same error messages.

@hanktank61 I did that first. That's why a bunch of people I follow received notifications I was following from my new handle.

Importing who I follow and my lists are more important to me. It seems like migrating to new account would transport followers.

@lostgen Good thought, but I was able to log into both accounts using 2FA without difficulty.

Hello Mastodon users, I'm working on migrating to a new instance since Med-Mastodon is shutting down.

When I go to Account > Account Settings > Move to a Different Account, I enter my new Mastodon handle (with an "@" in front of it) and old account password, I'm getting error messages in the new handle and the password fields.

I've tried resetting my password. I've tried a few times. Any ideas? Thank you in advance. I need to go to bed, but hope to receive ideas.
