Ehh naw we just need to let it reset. The house of cards will crumble as soon as Trump croaks, then once ceaser is gone Rome will burn. Hopefully what comes after is better, but it probably won’t.

Personally, my family came to this foreign land, that’s not ours, to seek out a better economic life and freedom. 2024 was the first election that the youngest voting generation went more conservative in the last 100 years. The beliefs of this nation no longer align with my own, so I’m returning back to Europe where my family once came in search of those very values. I realize a lot isn’t great there either, but I have more trust in the EU protecting my fundamental rights than I do the US Constitution.

Failing that, at least Europe has better wine and I’ll just enjoy the view while the world ends.

I really appreciate this remark but I think it kind of leaves something out, among the hopeful message.

I think America is actually experiencing the greatest theft of wealth, being transferred AWAY from the middle- and lower- classes, TO the ruling Elite.

I see people dancing up and down on leopards ate my face, just as one random example… But the short-term mockery misses the long-term pain under which we will all suffer.

There are farmers who love Trump who are going to lose their farms, when they are purchased by large conglomerates, after their overseas markets were intentionally destroyed with tariffs. The last thing this world needs is more Monsanto-esque food control.

There are huge swaths of US tourist properties that are going up for fire sale in the next couple years. All of that land is going to be stolen because no one can/will visit. Although tourism is a huge industry, it’s still highly competitive and the margins are razor thin. Most tourist destinations will not be able to weather the storm.

Manufacturing, agriculture, travel… like… I could just make a list of so many lives that businesses that are going to be destroyed. And there’s fatcats just waiting to strike and steal what they have built, for pennies on the dollar.

America is in a massive crisis right now. People are so busy focusing on mockery and schadenfreude and identity politics, there’s not a lot of talk about what’s actually going on in the bigger picture!

All of America’s wealth is being stolen. Every citizen is having their generational wealth swindled from under them. Even if there’s not a direct loss one could point to, massive inflation has horrendously deflated a century of citizens’ wealth building. Families have been set back generations, even if the course is reversed. Reproductive rights are almost gone. Bump more children out with less ability to feed them, more slaves.

It’s such a dire situation and people aren’t grasping the scope of it. It freaks me the hell out.

There have been other times in the USA’s history where rich robber barons have held the majority of power.

Thankfully, class consciousness (and political integrity) had emerged enough during those times for the working class to claw back freedoms they lost to the capitalists. Look at May Day for how we earned a 40 hour work week and weekends.

I do agree with you though. There is more wealth disparity today than any other time in human history. The working class response to this betrayal by the rich must reflect this in kind, and achieve unprecedented levels of equity and equality compared to any other time in human history.

That may sound ideal, but it’s necessary. Suffering across the world may have decreased in the past 40-50 years, but the benefits of technology and the 21st century have not trickled down to the workers. Stuff should be cheaper because we’ve displaced our labor with robotics and freed our time and energy with better tools (e.g. assembly lines). It is a crime that things have only gotten more expensive as time has passed.

Power over the masses is of course the culprit. Capitalist power ensures the majority are enslaved to their 9-5s, their student loan debt, and even the ever prescient force to abolish ownership of stuff in favor of rent. There’s a reason why socialism is becoming a popular ideology in Democratic and Left-leaning populations: capitalism isn’t apart of it.

Right. I briefly didn’t feel the stick for a month in 2015 but other than that the last time was last millennium.

What you’re describing here is the process that will drive the change parent speaks of. The dispossesion you’re pointing out is what will make people come together against the dispossessors.

Word. We’d be in such a better place if they’d actually counted the votes.

The Orange turd may actually help make things better again.: It was last time that oligarchs/robber barons had too much power that FDR changed the game & gave power back to the people.

The Jimmy Kimmel show is cancelled. Multiple sources like cnn and pbs talked about it. There are multiple results at the top of google that are generally credible too…

inb4 those fired show hosts start their YouTube channels and air their shows there. A Lithuanian journalist has been doing it for 10 years now and so can they.

Google can just as easily be squeezed and threatened by Trump to take-down any youtubers they don’t like
