This post always makes me smile and reminisce on my old '99 corolla with great fondness. I treated that thing like absolute shit and it’s probably still out there somewhere puttering around without a care in the world. It had almost 400k km on it when my parents donated it but it was in fine (if a bit rattling) condition. It was succeeded by an '01 corolla which sadly is no longer with us due to a non-corolla driver plowing into its passenger side.

I, for one, welcome our learned mice overlords.

My SNES controller still bears the scars of when I smacked it into my grandparents’ brick fireplace when I was 12. And I learned the importance of controlling my emotions as a result of the time I got mad at Panzer Dragoon Saga and ripped the disc out of my Saturn–scratching it EXACTLY where I was stuck in the game (like, it ran fine until that particular boss battle began, then it glitched out). I was able to fix the disc years later with a Disc Doctor (and still have the game), but given how rare and valuable that game is these days I still feel the pang of regret for having such a short temper. But the silver lining to that is that it all began a process of learning to properly handle my emotions AND gives me a good cautionary tale to tell my kids when they start getting mad at games and I tell them to take a break.

That’s the definition of an egg, not chicken egg. There is no universally accepted definition, that defines it by the creature that laid it or the creature that hatches from it. If there was, this dilemma wouldn’t exist and there wouldn’t be any debate.

Look at quality employees like any other product. Saying that good people are hard to find and don’t want to work anymore is like saying that since you can’t buy a 200" 8K TV for 90 bucks it means TVs don’t want to be bought anymore.

Venus isn’t at all comparable to Earth… That’s a literal crazy comparison. Some people are only able to identify the differences using hyperbole. I specifcally called out Venus as an extreme example to highlight the difference in atmospheric conditions. I did not suggest the Earth would become Venus. but just because the atmosphere holds more water doesn’t mean it won’t also be releasing more water. I addressed this directly. More extreme water patterns doesn’t mean less drinking water. Except it does. Yes, the water will be released, but not in the same geographic places and the other conditions created by climate change will mean when it rains far less of that fresh water will be usable or capturable.

For mild evil, write down the number of someone you don’t like
